My deep desire pushed me to start the agro-based industry in the year 1991. Practically, I did not have the capital to start the unit, I started from scratch. This journey has been not an easy one and I faced many challenges along the way. Manipur does not have the suitable economic, social or political environment and basic infrastructure to run a manufacturing unit. Against all the odds, we have worked diligently to sustain and develop this company.
Our target is to make our products reach every household of Manipur and extend our markets in the neighbouring states and other cities of the country. We should work on the theory that every child born today is our customer tomorrow.
After successful operations in Food and Packaged Drinking Water division, we launched the Bakery division of Likla in the year 2016. We are able to execute it successfully because of the immense support from our employees and I appreciate the entire team of Likla for their tireless efforts and dedication. In the outlet segment, we started with Moirangkhom Outlet and today we already have 16 Outlets and few more are coming up very shortly. I congratulate the team of Likla on the successful founding of a Montessori model Pre-Primary school in the year 2018 under the name of J.J. School Montessori under Joykumar and Jiteshwari Foundation.
Our brand, Likla now enjoys very strong brand equity in the market today. Though we do not have official data of market volume, the available data says that our products occupy at least 30-40 % of market share among local products having most of our products being the market leader in their respective segments. This is based on the data collected by our marketing team.
Today, 550 employees are working in our Company and another 300 persons are engaged in sales and distributions. Another 50 employees are employed in J.J. School. Thus, altogether approximately 900 persons are working together in Likla family. Employment is growing at the rate of 40% in the last five years.
In the year 2019, we received the National Award of Outstanding Entrepreneur. This award was given to us in recognition of our contribution in MSME sector. Prior to this, we have also received few awards including Best Entrepreneur Award, 2013.
In all circumstances, we should work consistently to check negative growth rate from the present one. We are striving towards increasing the range of products and launch new items.
We are overwhelmed by the love and loyalty our consumers have bestowed on us. I express my deep gratitude to every team member of Likla including the sales and distribution agents and also all the well-wishers of Likla. I convey my sincere thanks to the people of Manipur who have extended an unconditional support to our company.
